The Backstory Behind Free to Be Boutique

Hey girl! I'm Natalie, the creator behind Free to Be Boutique. It means so much to me that you're here, checking it out!

I founded this women's online boutique back in March 2020. That's right. It was just weeks before a pandemic spread across the world. It was also just a few weeks shy of me landing a new full-time job and settling in to my new home in Colorado Springs.

I've bounced around a lot over the past 7+ years and I'm grateful for the sacrifice, feeling, and doing that goes with moving.

I've taken time to really ingest what it means to be free to be. To chase after life on my own terms. To keep grasp on the understanding that I have complete control over my life. To dedicate time to exploring me out of my comfort zone.

It took leaving the place I had grown up in for the first 26 years of my life and chasing my wild dreams regardless of the massive list of obstacles you have to hash out that come into play when you decide to pack up the things in your life and just go.

With that said, my 18 months of traveling the world are another story. Those months though, they play a huge role in my story and why I've chosen to live my life the way I do. They take part in me going after things that feel right like moving to a city I'd never been before, living on a mangrove island with 12 monkeys, or opening my own business. 

They take part in the idea that anything I want out of this life is attainable if I just go for it and do the damn thing.

My inspiration for launching this boutique came from that unique perspective I gained backpacking and living around the world where I learned what it truly means to be free.

To have the present in the palm of my hands.

I returned from my second leave from the grind where our hearts (my husband's and mine) took us. Colorado. With that came with me a desire to create something that would continue to make my heart, soul and mind feel alive, excited, and free.

I wanted to create something that I could share with others, while connecting with other awesome and empowering ladies in the process.

So came to be Free to Be Boutique. A dream made into reality. Quickly at that. I essentially looked up what it took to open up a business in the State of Colorado and let me tell you, it's been a journey ever since.

My goal is to not only bring you pieces that add on to making you feel like the badass woman you truly are, but to also help inspire you that we should take control of the power we have to go after the things we want, do what we love, and maintain that freedom of being.

It's been a journey rocking a full-time job, while being an entrepreneur at the same time. It takes a lot of failing, trying new things, and failing again. A lot of tired nights of looking at the computer screen. A lot of pauses and frustrations. But a lot of joy and personal growth too. 

Winston Churchill said, "Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm." 

And so here I go, with my enthusiasm at an all-time high.

If you're dedicating your all to something, you can probably relate. It takes failing, consistency, passion, dedication, and love to make something that you're truly proud of.
